Public Comment Period for OklahomaComposting Rules open until January 12, 2017
If you support composting in Oklahoma, you may beinterested in some changes to the existing rules being considered by theOklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, Solid Waste Management AdvisoryCouncil. If the changes to the rules areapproved, it would allow for compost facilities to compost feedstocks otherthan yard waste. The proposedrulemaking is an attempt to clarify and streamline the current regulationspertaining to solid waste composting facilities.
The composting rules are included inthe proposed revision to Chapter 515. The attached text is the currentlyproposed version. Potential revisions to composting rules were discussedconceptually at the September 2015 and January 2016, Council meetings. A draftwas presented for discussion purposes at the September 2016 Councilmeeting.
