How to opt out of phone book delivery - campaign ideas and materials you can use in your own community. From our friends at the ODEQ and national Product Stewardship Institute (PSI). More info below...

PSI has launched new education/outreach materials within our revamped Phone Book Opt-out Toolkit<https://productstewardship.site-ym.com/page/Phone_Books_Toolkit>! These new resources include:

*         Animated video

*         Infographics

*         New social media posts

* Sample public service announcement language

*         Utility bill stuffer

*         Postcard-sized mailer

* Template letter/call script to use to contact publishers when an opt out is not honored

The next step? Use these resources to run a phone book opt-out campaign in your community! The more we can amplify this message together, the more paper, resources, and money we can save. How can you start promoting opt out to your residents?

1. Copy and paste sample website language<https://productstewardship.site-ym.com/page/Phonebook_Website> onto your agency's website, perhaps under your source reduction or paper reduction efforts.

2. Copy and paste some of our sample social media posts<https://productstewardship.site-ym.com/page/Phonebook_SocMedia> (including our animated video, infographics, or images) into your Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, or other social media platform.

3. Promote opt-out in your monthly newsletter by copying and tailoring our sample language<https://productstewardship.site-ym.com/page/Phonebook_Website>.

4. Print<https://productstewardship.site-ym.com/page/Phonebook_Flyer> flyers, postcard-sized mailers, or utility bill stuffers to hand out at local events or send to residents via mail.

5. Explore the rest<https://productstewardship.site-ym.com/page/Phone_Books_Toolkit> of the Toolkit's outreach/education materials for other ideas!

Please don't hesitate to contact me<mailto:suzy at productstewardship.us> (617-236-8293) or Megan<mailto:megan at productstewardship.us> (617-236-4866) if you have any questions about how to get started in promoting opt out!

We look forward to hearing about the impact these educational tools have in your communities. Please respond directly to this email with any feedback, or feel free to fill out a short survey here<http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3436219/2017-Merck-Phone-Books-Project-Toolkit-Feedback>.

Thanks so much,
