The contest period is from America Recycles Day (Nov. 15) to Earth Day (April 22) 2012. Attached below is an announcement and more details regarding the contest.
Registration is required and is now open through December 15 at www.cancentral.com/roundup<http://www.cancentral.com/roundup> where you also will find virtually everything for a successful Roundup campaign. Register, Recycle and Win with Al the Can!
Al the Can extends you a personal invitation to enter the second annual Great American Can Roundup (GACR) school Challenge. Catch the recycling spirit and win! Registration is now open and because you registered last year, it's as easy as one, two, three:
1. Go to http://www.cancentral.com/roundup/ruLogin.cfm and enter your
email address and password.
2. Click on the 2011-2012 School Challenge box.
3. Type in the number of students enrolled in your school.
Registration must be completed by Dec. 15, so do it now and secure your opportunity to participate.
Your chances to win up to $6,000 are excellent and you get to keep all the earned recycling proceeds. Last year, every state in the nation was represented, but schools in only 30 states turned in their receipts. So please make sure you turn in your receipts this year. A $1,000 award will be given to the school recycling the most cans per capita in each state and the District of Columbia. The contest runs from America Recycles Day (Nov. 15, 2011) to Earth Day (April 22, 2012). The top per capita recycling school earns an additional $5,000! Altogether, $56,000 in prize money will be given away.
Get a jump start to the GACR Leader Board:
n Start collecting beverage cans now for recycling between Nov. 15, and April 22.
n Generate excitement by placing fun facts on bulletin boards, in newsletters, or as part of afternoon announcements and incorporate free curriculum and worksheets into your classroom. You can find these at www.cancentral.com/roundup<http://www.cancentral.com/roundup>.
n Reach out to area businesses, retailers and restaurants for donations of items or certificates to reward students for recycling.
n Determine how you are going to use your recycling proceeds and set a goal.
n Bring the community into the fold by asking them collect aluminum cans for your school and enlist the help of your school's Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
We look forward to seeing your schools on the Great American Can Roundup School Challenge leader board. Please contact Jenny Day at 202/232-4677, or by email jday at cancentral.com<mailto:jday at cancentral.com> with any questions or ways we can help.
