The OKRA Executive Board would like your input on the proposed 2011 OKRA
Goals. Please take the time to review them. If you have any suggestions or
changes, please send your comments to Ellen Bussert, OKRA Secretary at

accepted until January 15th. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
OKRA GOALS FOR 2011
The mission of the Oklahoma Recycling Association (OKRA) is to develop and
increase recycling in the State of Oklahoma.
1. Meet revenue projections.
2. Attain non-profit status in 2011.
3. Explore and determine relationship with regional and national
recycling organization.
4. Maintain a working relationship with DEQ to promote recycling.
5. Sponsor a state wide electronic public service announcement (PSA)
contest for high school students.
6. Continue to build a working relationship with SWANA.
7. Strengthen the working relationship with Oklahoma Tribes. Recruit
a representative of one of the tribes to serve on the board.
8. Increase awareness of organic waste, including composting.
9. Continue efforts to support container deposit legislation efforts
in Oklahoma.
10. Have OKRA booth and/or materials at 12 events that promote OKRA
membership, activities, and leadership to have a visible presence.
11. To increase OKRA membership by 25 % in 2011 (add 21 new members) and
increase the members on the list serve by 25% (now 601 people – increase to
726.)
12. Develop the workgroups to function and operate more efficiently.
Find a chairperson for each committee.
13. Sponsor some type of activity 51% of membership participates in and
does so that they will feel more connected.
14. Publish at least 3 OKRA newsletters in 2011.
15. Increase awareness and enhance and improve the content on the OKRA
web site. Increase number of visitors by 10%. (Current average for the past
12 months is 962 visits per month.)
16. Strengthen relationships with members of the Oklahoma Legislature.
17. Conduct 2 meetings a year outside of the Oklahoma City and Tulsa
metropolitan area.
