NRC-KAB vote begins today (from Resource Recycling online newsletter)
The controversial vote on the proposed marriage of the National
Recycling Coalition (NRC) and Keep America Beautiful (KAB) begins this
Monday, August 10th at 9:00 a.m. ET, remaining open for 16 days, until
August 26th. All eligible NRC members will receive an email before the
vote time that includes complete voting instructions and a direct link
to the online ballot.
The email will go to the approximately 4,800 members who were on the
membership rolls on June 1st, of which around 95 percent is from
affiliate state recycling organizations. VoteNet, the voting system
manager for the ballot, will issue the results to NRC on the morning of
the 27th. Members can vote electronically, or print a copy of the ballot
and vote by mail.
The lead-up to the vote has found competing views battling for the
public eye, culminating with this week's announcement

recycling group, the Recycling Organizations of North America (RONA).
Other organizations have come out on either side of the battle. State
recycling organizations for California, both Carolinas, Colorado,
Kansas, Michigan, New Jersey and Oregon have either come out against the
proposed merger, or said they will not join the new organization, if
approved.
On the other side, the College and University Recycling Council endorsed
the merger, along with recycling groups representing Arizona, Georgia,
Indiana, Pennsylvania and Texas.

some of the issues, you can read an article from the July issue of
