Dear Oklahoma Youth Recycling Advocates:      

                                                                

            Oklahoma Recycling Association (OKRA), Oklahoma Department
of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Keep Oklahoma Beautiful (KOB) and the
Metropolitan Environmental Trust (M.e.t.) request your help in promoting
increased recycling in Oklahoma.  If protecting the environment and
conserving natural resources are important to you, please join our
planning efforts for our 2007 Oklahoma Celebrates America Recycles Day.

          Every year, communities, organizations, schools and businesses
hold America Recycles Day (ARD) events to celebrate recycling and to
keep it in the public eye.  Since a lot of valuable materials are still
being wasted, America Recycles Day means rededicating ourselves to
recycling. The annual ARD date is November 15th, but a lot of events are
starting much earlier!  

          To make this year's celebration more meaningful for Oklahoma's
youth, we are forming an OKRA Youth Advisory Council to meet from 11:30
a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on June 6 at the Oklahoma Department of Environmental
Quality.  We will brainstorm ideas for encouraging schools to
participate in the annual celebration and develop a list of potential
prizes that would motivate young people to enter the drawing.  We hope
to have time at the end of the meeting to help all young people in
attendance plan an event at their own school.

          If you are interested in sharing your ideas for ARD, but are
unable to attend the meeting, please send your name, age, school and
e-mail to me for future electronic communication efforts.  If you would
