[OKRA] 2025 OKRA Earth Day Photo Contest Winners Announced

The results are in-here are the 2025 Earth Day photo contest winners! We
want to thank everyone who submitted photos into our contest this year. It
truly is amazing seeing our followers being so creative on a daily basis
and not just Earth Day.

In first place, we have Kristina Higginbotham in the Reuse category with
her Duck Island. Her husband repurposed pallets, plastic barrels, and
greenhouse metal shelving to make a floating duck island for their pond.

In second place, we have Sarah White with in the Recycling category with
her Hot Girl Guide. She starts off with showing off some books that allow
us to educate ourselves on different sustainable methods and
environmentalism. She goes on to reduce by eliminating the use of
disposable/single use paper towels and instead switch to a zero waste
washable alternative. The last picture showcases how she reuses by bringing
her own bags when grocery shopping.

In third place, we have Holly Turnball submitting a project for her
grandfather-in-law’s garden in the Reuse category. “His latest creation
beautifully exemplifies ingenuity and a commitment to resourcefulness.
Faced with an old, non-functional side-by-side refrigerator destined for
disposal, he envisioned a new purpose for it: a raised garden bed for his
wife. He skillfully repurposed the refrigerator's sturdy structure as the
base and then artfully crafted a charming wooden exterior using discarded
privacy fence pickets, creating a visually appealing and functional garden
box. Going a step further in his resourceful endeavors, he also
incorporated a cast-off cow mineral tub from a local rancher to provide
additional space for his vegetable plants.”

Our honorable mention is Kellie Cooper-Turner in the Reuse category with
her Duvet Robe. “I love making clothes from reused sheets, tablecloths and
curtains. This is a robe I made from an old duvet cover.”


For participating in our photo contest, we are giving away a free pass to
our annual conference in October. This free pass goes to Christie Harris!
