Join us for our 7th annual Oklahoma Compost Conference on Friday, October
15, 2021 at the Oklahoma County OSU Extension Center

Kwame Mboya, Life Changes & Wellness Center Urban Farm, Spencer, OK

Kwame Mboya graduated from Oklahoma State University and was the 2019
Oklahoma Black Historical Research Incorporated “Farmer of the Year”. Kwame
planned and established the Community Gardens in Atlanta, GA and the
Community Gardens within Oklahoma City Ward 7 in partnership with the
University of Georgia Extension Department and Langston University
Extension Department respectively. He also manages the Life Change &
Wellness Center Urban Garden (Spencer, OK), NE OKC Farmers Market, and Pan
African Orthodox Christian Church Shrine 9 Urban Garden Farm.

Zombie Recyclables: Creating cross-sector partnerships to raise wasted
materials from the dead (Municipal Sustainability)
Eric Hemphill, Bridging the Gap, Kansas City

Eric runs Bridging the Gap Kansas City’s Business Recycling Program, which
helps businesses analyze their waste streams and reduce their landfill
waste through consultations, technical assistance, education, and expert
advice. The program has diverted hundreds of thousands of pounds of waste
from landfills since its inception in 2015. He holds degrees in English
from Emporia State University, education from the University of Central
Oklahoma, and a certificate in food systems sustainability from Arizona
State University. He lives in Kansas City, where he eats many bowls of pho
and walks his dog many times per day.
