An industry expert will discuss the challenges recycling is facing, including changes in stream composition, rising labor costs, increasing maintenance and processing costs, and depressed commodity prices. Adapting to these challenges will require public and private sectors working together. Individuals must also understand and take on the costs of recycling as well as the negative impacts placing undesirable materials in the bin.

He has worked in the solid waste industry for 29 years, and been with ReCommunity for the past 11 years (formerly FCR Recycling).  Bob is responsible for designing and executing the Mid-Atlantic's business development strategy, which includes NJ, PA, DE, MD and VA. Prior to ReCommunity, Bob worked with BFI/Allied Waste for 18 years, where he worked on mergers and acquisitions. The experience with BFI/Allied Waste provided Bob with a unique skill set in understanding transportation efficiencies available in single stream conversions.  In addition, Bob is on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center, Association of New Jersey Recyclers (ANJR) and a graduate of Florida State University. ReCommunity is the largest "pure-play" recycling company in North America, operating 30 MRF's in 14 states, and processing nearly two million tons of recyclables per year. The Mid-Atlantic Region include 10 facilities in New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware, and currently processes over 530,000 tons of recyclables per year.
