Learn How to Start a Backyard Composting Program in Your Community!

Join the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR)<https://t.e2ma.net/click/p69zg/952xc/13nyic> for a half-day orientation for prospective Master Composter Community Coordinators and learn all about how to start a backyard composting program in your community.

When: Friday, December 12, 1 - 4:30 p.m.
Where: Travis County Richard E. Scott Building, Austin
Cost: $20 (materials and light snacks will be provided)

What is Master Composter?
Master Composter is a community-based program of citizen education and volunteer development to promote cost-effective and environmentally responsible yard care practices, with backyard composting as its main focus. Benefits of a compost program include waste reduction, water conservation, pollution prevention, and more. STAR serves as the statewide administrator for this program and can provide resources and technical assistance to communities hosting Master Composter training events.

Who makes good Master Composter community coordinators?
The good news is that you don't have to know much about compost practices to start this program! Since Master Composter is a community-based program, the best coordinators are from municipalities (recycling coordinators, outreach coordinators, education specialists, etc.), Keep Texas Beautiful affiliates, and local nonprofits. You all know your community the best and what works and doesn't work there - you are our 'boots on the ground'!

What can you gain by attending this orientation?

  * Take the first step toward starting a backyard composting program in your community!
  * Become familiar with the Master Composter program and how it benefits your community
  * Learn about the curriculum, required texts, program planning, resources, and more!

Register today!
Register for the orientation today by using this link<https://t.e2ma.net/click/p69zg/952xc/hwoyic>.
