We know that not everyone was affected by the recent storms in our state. However, as the state's largest coalition of businesses, many of our members know someone who was. Whether your own business was damaged, or you know of a client, vendor, friend or family member who was in the path of the storms that hit our state, we ask that you help us spread the word about the assistance being offered.
The following is an overview to help you understand what resources and disaster assistance might be available to those affected. Please forward this information to anyone you know who was impacted by the storms.
Disaster Declaration Extended
Homeowners, renters and business owners who sustained damage as a result of recent back-to-back storms may now apply for state and federal disaster assistance. The federal disaster declaration<http://cp.mcafee.com/d/FZsS86QmhOabzWrUUTsSCyPt6XPbz1Jd5CWdTDXECQQmrETupsvdFEIThssKOOr8h-26GwENJ9_qI8vqsGMFOVINJ9_qI8vqsGMFOVJVxd_i2b_nVdVVVZVPHTbEIf8YMC-yMqehTbnhIyyHtV_BgY-F6lK1FJ4SyCrLOoVcsCej79zztPo09TRtUzkPAfckbNY_ZF-9ThpOXC8FUxaCQDYi-QFaAZxrO_xWSMgEnB2NXq7BRqNYLitoGQbX10Lroqxbo5XlrxcIrEgQHaNkxJyJ0lkHqNfli7NVsSOyejsdxe27NFfo8iwhd40taCQDYjh08kFaAZxrPh0nd40mf_quq81wDIvdTd_d2T> now covers damage incurred by severe storms, flooding and tornadoes May 18 through June 2 in six designated counties (Canadian, Cleveland, Lincoln, McClain, Oklahoma and Pottawatomie).
What Steps to Take
1. Contact your private insurance.
2. Apply for an U.S. Small Business Administration loan<http://cp.mcafee.com/d/avndzgA720Arhp78EKfFLzztPqqbdQrLcKc6QQmrETuvKyrjhpKztVBNYSCyPt5NOXb9Ix7U8qG2z6QDZGMxZFOH2DbCP6QDZGMxZFOH2DbCTC4TZ88LZvATDDDTDeLsKyMYzP2rWb1EV7sJt6OaaJTD-l3PWApmU6CQPqapK_9zANOoVcsCedTdAVPmEBC8iFJ9_4-KMWx3u8RcVV-UrEgQHaNkxJyJ0lkHqNfli7NVsSOyejsdxe27NFfo8iwhd40taCQDYjh08kFaAZxrPh0nd40mf_quq81wDIvdTdOix4> even if you're not sure you will need or want it. Do this by Friday, July 19.
3. If you are a worker whose place of employment was impacted, apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA)<http://cp.mcafee.com/d/FZsSd20scz9J5AsyyU-C-edTdFEIThKYOUMrjhpKztV-W9Jd5CWdTCn7PqqbdQn7bIICO4vwxGEacrivSH27SDaIasKrcrivSH27SDaIasKruojvQwy_R-juuuvusWZOWb3Ofc9LEI6zAtORQr8EGTuvVkffGhBrwqrpdEFCXYCej79zANOoUTsS02GlUzkPBiJ9NH0zy5rdG_2tc3wC83QXyh-OlS4NWtNuIlumgtdQ8qlBoGgSNmwaGlJoDGF3UYKrph79K6MD13UQDI49g8Cy0eBjqj-9Ew4akBiuMJVEwbCy0b7_Jfd40MjSfCXCT3Ms> by Friday, June 21.
4. If your home was damaged, register with FEMA by Friday, July 19.
U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)
SBA can offer low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes, and private, non-profit organizations. Businesses may borrow up to $2 million for any combination of property damage or economic injury. The interest rates for this disaster declaration are as low as 4 percent for businesses and 2.875 percent for nonprofit organizations.
SBA's low-interest working capital loans (Economic Injury Disaster Loans<http://cp.mcafee.com/d/1jWVIidEIzAkn7QTNNKVJd5CWdTCn63qqbdQrLfThdFEIThKYOU-rjhpKyUVtBASgzY4dl1hzqj-Rog-QVlxjBPpzqj-Rog-QVlxjBPrP2r-A4n-LOrPPPXPDnKnhouhVxdZ5wQszKmKzp55mXP_axVZicHs3jr1J5cTvANOoVcsCej76XCM0l26YhGpORoj-4Y-RollBoLa0yT4IngBjqj-9s-KMErEgQHaNkxJyJ0lkHqNfli7NVsSOyejsdxe27NFfo8iwhd40taCQDYjh08kFaAZxrPh0nd40mf_quq81wDIvdTdCtAjv9Kh>) are available to small businesses, small agriculture cooperatives and most private, nonprofit organizations of all sizes which are having difficulty meeting financial obligations as a result of the storms.
Even if you are not sure that you will need or want a loan, submit your SBA disaster loan application. Submitting an application does not mean you are obligated to take all or any of the loan amount offered to you. If SBA cannot approve your application, in most cases you will be referred to FEMA's Other Needs Assistance (ONA) program for possible additional assistance.
