[OKRA] Oklahoma Celebrates America Recycles Day Kick-off!

Greetings Friends of Recycling!

          

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Oklahoma
Recycling Association (OKRA), Keep Oklahoma Beautiful (KOB) and The
Metropolitan Environmental Trust (M.e.t.) request your help in promoting
increased recycling in Oklahoma. 

          Every year, communities, organizations, schools and businesses
hold America Recycles Day (ARD) events to celebrate recycling and to
keep it in the public eye.  ARD celebrates clean air and water, a
reliable supply of energy, and a healthy future for our children. This
year, our theme is "Oklahoma Celebrates America Recycles Day - It All
Comes Back to You." The annual ARD date is November 15th, but a lot of
events are starting much earlier!  

          For those planning an event or celebration, a variety of
promotional and educational materials are available from the DEQ.  An
event planning guide is available on the OKRA website. DEQ will provide
pledge cards in pads of 100 and signs for anyone wishing to collect the
pledges in offices, schools, public places, etc.  You may also make your
own copies of the pledge cards (4 to a sheet) by downloading the PDF
from the OKRA website.  Order ARD kits, including three recycled plastic
& cotton ARD t-shirts (first 40 orders only), online at: 
www.recycleok.org <http://www.recycleok.org/> .  While you're there,
take the recycling pledge online to register for our wonderful prizes
(many are now listed on the website).

          A big thanks to our 2007 prize sponsors including Midland
Recycling, Natural Evolution, Oklahoma Environmental Management
Authority (OEMA), OGE Energy Corp., Oklahoma Sierra Club, Staples,
Sustainable Tulsa, SWANA, The M.e.t., Waste Connections and Xerox
Corporation.  

Please pass this message on to folks in your sphere of influence to
encourage lots of pledge cards to be collected and submitted online.  If
you have influence in the media, three press releases are available on
the website, along with lots of other helpful information and materials
to help you host a celebration.  Our Oklahoma goal for 2007 is 5,000
pledges!
